Why sky is blue ?

have you ever wondered why sky is blue this is due to an phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering. Here's how it works:

  • Sunlight and Atmosphere: Sunlight, or white light, is made up of many different colors of light, each with different wavelengths. When sunlight enters Earth's atmosphere, it interacts with the gases and particles in the air.

  • Scattering of Light: Shorter wavelengths of light (blue and violet) scatter more than longer wavelengths (red and yellow). Rayleigh scattering is more effective at shorter wavelengths, so the blue light is scattered in all directions much more than the other colors.

  • Perception of Blue Sky: As a result, when you look up at the sky, you see more of this scattered blue light coming from every direction, which makes the sky appear blue.

The sky can change color at different times of the day due to the angle of the sun. For example, during sunrise and sunset, the sunlight has to pass through a thicker layer of the atmosphere, scattering the shorter wavelengths out of your line of sight and allowing the longer wavelengths (reds and oranges) to become more prominent.
